A Valentine's Dinner Under the Stars

Having a baby has changed our married life in so many wonderful ways.  One of my favourites (other than getting to spend every day with two seriously handsome men), is how our dating life has changed.

Before Baby J, we never really went on 'dates.'  In fact, our first real "date" was going for a run together.  Our dating life was more of a routine of going out with friends, line dancing (!), and perusing Canadian Tire on a Saturday morning (this has not changed).

But now, we make a conscious effort to ask each other out on "dates!"   The fun part of this, is that a night on the couch is now considered a date.  And yes, handsome hubby does ask me 'out' for a movie date night.  It is quite sweet!

This Valentine's Day was no exception.  Since we do not buy into the cards, roses, and expensive dinners, we created our own candle-lit dinner 'under the stars' (i.e. twinkle lights), complete with Wendy's take-out.  It was romantic, frugal, and oh-so-fun!  Oh, we also 'got ready' for our dinner in, which included dress pants/shirt for him and a sparkly dress for me.  I even attempted to curl my hair for the very first time...sadly, a bit of a fail (I'll try again another time).

Here are some photos depicting our 'fancy' dinner:

At the end of our dinner, handsome hubby read the homemade Valentine he made me.  He had typed up a list of 47 reasons that he loved me.  (I melted....!!!)  Two that pop out at me in this moment: "I love you because...You dance in the kitchen" and "...You were intelligent enough to marry me!"  :)

(I'm linking up our little night-in dinner at A Bit of Sunshine.  Check out her "dinner at eight" project.  It is very cool!)

Have a GREAT weekend!

    1. The lights were so fun! We've left them up now the entire week. We plug them in for every dinner and our 11-month-old looks at them and says: "oooo...." - it's too cute!
